Covid-19 Response
In the early spring of 2020, our World, our Nation and our State was hit with the COVID 19 virus, a severe Pandemic that would sicken millions and kill hundreds of thousands of people. The invisible virus slammed our economy, shocked our population and changed everyday life for all of us. The State of Maryland acted quickly to address the urgent need to provide medical facilities to care for COVID 19 infected patients. Hospitals were already near capacity so additional space was needed, and needed FAST. The State Department of General Services (DGS) turned to Baltimore Contractors to assist with preparing a dozen locations around the state for treatment and recovery services for infected Marylanders. Baltimore Contractors answered these calls immediately by quickly assembling teams of technicians and subcontractors to convert buildings to their new purposes in the face of a Pandemic.
In less than three months the Baltimore Convention Center, Lord Baltimore Hotel, Hagerstown Correctional Facility, Washington Adventist Hospital, Easton Hospital, MedStar Leonardtown Hospital and Anne Arundel Medical Center had spaces added, converted or repurposed to treat recovering COVID 19 patients. BCI also mobilized quickly to assemble temporary structures for testing, treatment and morgue services at several other locations around the state.
